OUR VISION

“We exist to disrupt and reverse the cycle of poverty.”

WHO WE SERVE

  • The Dream Center Indianapolis is the leading faith-based nonprofit in Central Indiana, providing support to families that have been affected by homelessness, lack of employment and education, through residential living and community outreach.

    Specifically, we serve:

    • Teenagers aging out of the Department of Child Services

    • Single Mothers facing homelessness or separation from their children

    • ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) who is struggling to make impossible choices every day

  • We take those poised to succeed on a 12-24 month pathway out of poverty. Our program model successfully navigates residents to sustainability through six pillars of support and coaching under one roof. These include but are not limited to workforce development, financial literacy, health & wellness, and parenting in a community anchored by God’s love.

  • Residents receive an initial assessment upon admission that forms a unique roadmap from poverty to prosperity. Each resident is guided through goals in five areas:

    • College and career planning

    • Financial freedom

    • Health and wellness

    • Spiritual awakening

    • Emotional wellbeing

  • The current system to support families in poverty does not provide a clear path to break local, state, and federal support dependency. The resources that exist today are disconnected and provide primarily short-term solutions for food, shelter, and safety that become a long-term dependency for living, ignoring the other critical challenges families in poverty face.

What makes the Dream Center different?

Based on the Dream Center in Los Angeles, California, and their 30 years of success, we added levels of programming through:

  • Ascension Health

  • The Department of Child Services

  • The Children’s Bureau

  • Industry leaders

  • Network of local churches

Similar nonprofits provide a limited number of resources. At the Dream Center, residents have all resources under one roof in one life-giving environment.

How do you measure success for residents at the Dream Center?

Goals are set for 90-day cycles and evaluated by our team lead by subject matter experts. After each evaluation period, new goals are established from admission through graduation, delivering each student and family to a place of self-sustaining prosperity.

We define self-sustaining prosperity as entering a career that earns an annual salary of $55,000+ while establishing new behaviors that bring about a lifetime of prosperity in a community of resilient people.

How are you funded?

The Dream Center Indianapolis is a legal 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded by the generosity of our Board of Directors, fundraising events, local business leaders, local churches, and grants.

All gifts are tax-deductible.
